Our first ESG report: structured commitments, measured results

This is GAASCH PACKAGING's first VSME-aligned ESG report, covering 1 January to 31 December 2025. It reflects our structured 2023–2030 sustainability strategy, built on a Double Materiality Assessment that identified five material topics: climate, circularity, own workforce, value-chain workers, and business conduct.

In 2025, we reached 100% renewable electricity consumption, invested in our people, and earned in our first year of EcoVadis participation an EcoVadis score of 64/100 (Top 35%). We adopted a Science-Based Targets-aligned decarbonisation plan targeting −42% Scope 1 & 2 and −25% Scope 3 by 2030. Circular packaging already generates 20% of revenue, with a target to grow this to at least 40% by 2030.

In 2026, we will launch Packwise, our product-level sustainability database, to drive supply chain transparency and data-driven emission reductions across our value chain.

"Sustainability is not a constraint on our business, it is the direction of our industry, and an integral part of how we create long-term value for our customers, our people, and future generations."

Our sustainability actions

Solar energy, 720 panels installation
GAASCH PACKAGING installed in 2023 720 photovoltaic solar panels at its Mollem facility alongside a switch to an electric air-air heat pump for building heating. Total electricity consumption in 2025 is 147,61 MWh, 100% from renewable sources.
Fleet transition, ≥90% by 2030
Transitioning company cars and forklift trucks to electric models with KPI targets: ≥50% electrification by 2026, ≥90% by 2030. GAASCH PACKAGING's own truck fleet handles distribution across Belgium and beyond. This directly reduces Scope 1 emissions (232.53 tCO₂e in 2025) and improves downstream Scope 3 transport performance.
Supplier climate engagement, Scope 3 reduction
Total Scope 3 emissions: 46,974 tCO₂e, driven primarily by purchased goods (43,969 tCO₂e). We engage our suppliers on CO₂ reduction, 30% of spend under active climate engagement by 2026, 70% by 2030. Packwise product database will enable product-level LCA tracking from 2026.
Circular packaging & waste management
Reduce–reuse–recycle hierarchy applied across operations. Waste segregated by stream with partners Vanheede, Raff Plastics and Hout Peeters. Valipac reusable packaging flows: 545,907 units (3,074 tons) in 2025. Customers advised on PPWR-compliant and circular packaging solutions.
Biodiversity & site stewardship
Mollem site: 2.95 ha total (2.05 ha sealed, 0.9 ha nature-oriented), located near a biodiversity-sensitive area. An EU supported rainwater harvesting initiative will be realised in 2027-2028 with neighbouring businesses, a local farmer and landscape agency Subtilia. Supplier Code of Conduct includes animal-welfare and responsible raw material sourcing provisions.
